Where is Lou’s Restaurant & Bakery located?

Lou’s Restaurant & Bakery is located in downtown Hanover, New Hampshire, just steps from Dartmouth College. We’ve been a local landmark for generations and are easy to find when visiting campus or downtown Hanover.


What type of restaurant is Lou’s?

Lou’s is a full-service restaurant, bakery, and café. We’re best known for our breakfast and brunch, house-made baked goods, donuts, pastries, cakes, and classic New England comfort food—served all day.


Is Lou’s locally owned?

Yes. Lou’s Restaurant & Bakery is locally and independently owned, and has been serving the Upper Valley community for decades.


What are Lou’s hours?

Our hours may vary seasonally. For the most up-to-date hours, please visit our website or Google Business profile.  We are open 363 days a year and only closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day.  We open at 6:30am Daily.  Our kitchen closes at 3pm.  You can shop our bakery until 5pm on Monday through Saturday, and until 3pm on Sunday.  


Do you serve breakfast all day?

Yes. Breakfast is served all day at Lou’s, including eggs, pancakes, omelets, and many customer favorites.


Is Lou’s good for brunch?

Absolutely. Lou’s is by far the most popular brunch spots in Hanover, especially on weekends. We recommend arriving early during busy times.


Do you take reservations?

Lou’s operates primarily on a first-come, first-served basis. Large groups or special situations may want to call ahead.


Do you offer takeout?

Yes. Takeout is available for both food and bakery items. Orders can be placed in person or online, depending on availability.


Does Lou’s offer delivery?

We focus on in-house dining, takeout, and scheduled group orders rather than on-demand third-party delivery apps. This helps us maintain quality and consistency.


Do you offer catering?

Yes. Lou’s offers catering and large-order bakery options for meetings, events, and group gatherings in the Hanover and Upper Valley area. Advance notice is recommended.


Can I order cakes or baked goods in advance?

Yes. We offer custom and pre-order bakery items, including cakes, pies, pastries, and specialty desserts. Ordering ahead helps ensure availability. We normally just need 36 hours.  We normally have cakes, pies and cookies in stock for pickup.  Come by or call! 


Are your baked goods made in-house?

Yes. Our bakery items are made fresh in-house by our baking team, using time-tested recipes and high-quality ingredients.


Do you have vegetarian options?

Yes. Lou’s offers several vegetarian options across breakfast, lunch, and bakery menus.


Do you have gluten-free options?

We offer some gluten-free items, though our kitchen is not a dedicated gluten-free facility. Guests with severe allergies should speak with a manager.
